Product Types: Goat Meat (Chevon) Pasture-raised LEAN red meat-Goat is the healthiest red meat there is

About Us
Chevon - gourmet goat meat

Goat is the lean & healthy red meat! It has half the fat of beef and all the protein. It is lean and tender and delicious. You will love the unique flavor and light feel. Boer goats are the preferred breed for Chevon.

We started raising Boer goats in the Hagerman Valley three years ago. We are now excited to offer our USDA inspected Chevon. Come to our ranch in Hagerman, and as an alternative to USDA inspected, we can deliver a butcher-ready wether to a butcher in Hagerman for you to pick up there.

We are members of Idaho Preferred.

Restaurants in Hagerman and Wood River Valleys are serving our goat meat to rave reviews.

In the summer of 2008 a Twin Falls, Idaho Times-News reporter featured our product in her local foods column.

The New York Times in October 2008 ran an interesting article on how goat meat is finally receiving wide attention in this country for it's delicious, light flavor and healthful properties.

Ingredients

Pasture-raised gourmet Boer goat meat. That's all. No additives, hormones, or preservatives.

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)

"Turning Sunshine into Chevon" www.idahoboergoats.com

Grass-fed, Naturally raised, Humanely treated.

Our goats enjoy a variety of pasture grasses. Our pastures are unsprayed. We grow our own grass/alfalfa mix and our hay fields are unsprayed. We supplement with pellets for the lactating does, young kids, and our show string. We fertilize our fields with composted manure only. We buy grass/alfalfa and alfalfa hay from local ranchers and we offer free composted manure to them (and to anyone) for their fields and gardens.

The animals we select for USDA butcher are not given antibiotics or hormones.

Additional Information

USDA processing is done in Nampa, Idaho. We toured the facility (in caps and gowns) to see for ourselves that our goats are treated humanely and that the processing facilities are top-notch in terms of food safety and cleanliness.

Our Chevon is available in fresh-frozen packages by cut(bone-in or boneless rolled roasts, racks, loin chops, shanks, steaks, ribs, burger, stew, kabobs, etc.) or place a custom order for half/whole, bundles, fresh or frozen.

Brush loin chops with olive oil before grilling. Use low heat, don't overcook Chevon. Slow-cooker pots are perfect for Chevon roasts, shanks, and stews.
