About Us
Greetings
Hello to our friends to the North. We are the Hagerman High School Horticulture Class who are learning how to grow and market fresh, healthy produce in an environmentally safe way. If you didn’t already know, the Hagerman Valley is known for its outstanding melons and fresh veggies. We are proud to offer grape tomatoes and fresh herbs. Thanks for your support, it is greatly appreciated.

Ingredients
Quality
One taste of our grape tomato will knock your socks off. About ten grape tomatoes make up a pound. The secret to the taste is the fact that our tomatoes are vine-ripened. This allows more time for the flavor to develop in the tomato. It is also proven to contain more vitamins, such as Vitamin C, if allowed to be vine-ripened. Why are we able to produce vine-ripened tomatoes and not the major growers? Being located in Hagerman we are your next door neighbors. This means that we pick tomatoes on Tuesday afternoon and the Idaho Bounty truck picks them up on Wednesday morning to deliver them to you that day. Most hydroponic tomato companies pick green tomatoes and have to ship, gas, and truck them, then a week or more later deliver them to the grocery store, after many miles on the road with many handlers. FYI you will be glad to know that no genetically engineered or modified seed was used. All of our seed is purchased from a company located in Holland that uses traditional selective breeding methods. Our herbs are not certified organic but have never been sprayed with pesticide.

Practices (our standards for raising or making our products)
Cultural Practices
We started our tomatoes in August at the beginning of school. The plants were germinated in rock wool, and then transplanted into Bato buckets filled with perlite. The plants are watered and fertilized directly to the base of the plant using our specialized watering system that does not waste any water. Instead of pesticides, we use beneficial insects to combat those pesky aphids, thrips, and whiteflies. Should plants become diseased or infested with insects, they are removed. As we did with the cucumber crop as of 2/20/08. The products shipped have never been sprayed. FYI you will be glad to know that no genetically engineered or modified seed was used. All of our seed is purchased from a company located in Holland that uses traditional selective breeding methods. Our herbs are not certified organic but have never been sprayed with pesticide. We also use naturally occuring mycorrhizae products applied to our soil medium to develop a high quality supportive mycorrhizae root relationship.

Partner With Us
The best opportunity you have today is not buying our tomatoes, but investing in our most precious resource, our young people. This is your opportunity to join with us in educating young people by developing skills in horticulture, business, and natural resources. It is my personal experience that students learn better when they have real world experiences to apply to the classroom instruction. Not just talk about it, but do it.
Unfortunately in Idaho, public schools now need partners. If it were not for the fundraising opportunities of the greenhouse we would not be able to fund our program. The funds from the greenhouse are used for everything from travel expenses on field trips, to classroom and shop supplies.

Thanks for your support, it is greatly appreciated.
