Dear Friends and Fellow Co-op members,

The Board of Directors, Co-op Director and Staff would like to thank you for your participation and support of this critical movement and important community business. Together we have initiated the long but rewarding process of regaining control over the food we, and our children eat every day.

These days there is little that is certain, but one thing we can say for sure is that we all must eat, and that the quality of the food we eat is fundamental to our health and well being. Over the last several decades, agriculture in this country has become a highly industrial process. Our food travels long distances and is often grown and processed using powerful and dangerous chemicals, hormones and genetic engineering.  Animals often suffer from inhumane conditions and the people and communities that provide our food are largely out of sight and economically marginalized.  Along with thousands of other like-minded local organizations around the country, Idaho’s Bounty Co-op, Inc. was founded to reverse this trend by putting us back in touch with the source of our food.

Idaho’s Bounty is a Cooperative form of business, not a standard non-profit organization. We are allowed however, to receive tax deductible support during our development stages through the support of the Ketchum Community Development Corporation. Like most new businesses, our expenses will exceed our revenues for the first two years. Currently the short fall is approximately 6-8,000 dollars per month. Currently we have a matching grant of $25,000 which we are looking to raise funds to meet.  Our budgeted shortfall for 2010 is approximately $96,000 dollars.  To continue to operate free of debt we need to raise additional funds.

In order to continue this amazing and critical endeavor to ensure a safe and secure food shed, the Co-op needs one more year of support.

Together we have made tremendous progress in just a short period of time. We are working with over 45 amazingly dedicated local producers and a core of dedicated volunteers. Our first year, we realized sales of over $200,000. In challenging times, having a stable, secure, local source of fresh nutritious food is paramount. Please help us keep this important work alive and moving forward. Your donation of $25, $50, $100 or $1,000 will mean the difference to generations to come.

Thank you,

Kelley Weston
